According to the new poll, conducted by online panel provider Toluna Omnibus, 39 percent of more than 3,000 respondents said that they have the most trouble sleeping off on Sundays, Huffington Post reported.
However, around 19 percent of the people said that they have the hardest time on Saturdays.
Sleep specialist Michael J. Breus, Ph.D., who was consulted on the survey, told the publication that staying up late on Friday and Saturday nights and then sleeping in on Saturday and Sunday mornings essentially shifts the entire biological clock.
Breus asserted that the other factor is likely to be stress.
The poll found that 48 percent of the full-time employed respondents identified Sunday as the most difficult night to fall asleep, and 43 percent of homemakers felt similarly, reflecting the effects of stress about the week ahead.
Only 36 percent of unemployed respondents and 27 percent of students identified Sunday as the hardest night to fall asleep.
The survey found that, Tuesdays and Thursdays were named the easiest nights to fall asleep with just 5 percent and 3 percent of people citing trouble on those nights.
